On September 29, 2017, Saddle Brook’s Library Media Specialist, Ann Hazley, held their 2nd annual Makerspace Launch Party. The purpose of the event was to give students a sample of some of the projects they would be working on during the MakerSpace club.
Several stations were setup including Ozobots, Little-bits, VR glasses, Makey-Makey, Hue-Animation Stop Motion camera/software and, a new addition to the program, Bloxels. With Bloxels students create a video game character, take a picture and upload it to the app. More advanced applications include creating your own gameboard for your own character.
The event was held during each of the three lunch periods. On hand were select student helpers and Ms. Samina a Public Librarian from Saddle Brook. At the end of the period, students took a quick survey and were encouraged to sign up for the club which meets once a week during the lunch periods.
Also pictured below are the posters made in the Wood-Ridge district, where Kim Diaz’s 6th grade students worked to create intricate pixel posters using colored squares of paper creating a unique and beautiful effect.
